IT Conversations, EFF, Magnatune, Genographic Project (Worthy Causes)
Another worthy cause that will soon get some of my hard earned money is IT Conversations. Their podcasts, even though I am listening months after they are issued, are always interesting and sometimes amazingly so.
I am pretty sure it was an IT Conversations podcast where I first heard what the EFF is about.
Last night while looking up topics on the IT Conversations site, I noticed some information about Magnatune. I linked to the "Why I created Magnatune page" instead of the main page because I think anyone venturing over there should start there. And even if you don't want to buy music from them, they also accept donations here.
Oooh! I almost forgot to mention another worthy cause, which I also heard about in an ITC podcast--IBM's implementation ofthe Genographic Project by National Geographic.
At this rate I may not have to go to the mall for any Christmas shopping at all!

EMI Nonlinear Dynamic Time History Analysis
Not a recent development by any means, but a cool thingie for structural engineer types (especially those interested in seismic design) nonetheless.
And here's another cool thing. I foud it at this motion-based design module of MIT's Open Courseware site, which in turn I discovered by searching for some continuous beam stuff and finding an interesting paper on structural design for theater.
