I Miss The Dixie Chicks

And I think it's a terrible shame that while our guys are overseas dying to protect America and preserve freedom, local radio stations have blacklisted the Dixie Chicks because Natalie Maines was bold enough to actually speak her mind.  I don't care what she said or where she said it, this is a form of censorship, and it stinks.  Our entire society is based on the freedom to say what you want, whether people like it or not.  If an administration is so weak that it can't take a little criticism, maybe someone isn't suited for their job in the first place.

I haven't heard much about the Dixie Chicks lately because here in the DFW area, none of the country stations play their songs.  The only place I have heard a Dixie Chicks song broadcast or playing publicly in the past year has been at Saltgrass.  Hooray Saltgrass!  I am impressed that you did not cave in to pressure (if there was any--and there probably was) to remove the Dixie Chicks from your restaurant's play list.  Never heard of Saltgrass? Well check out their website:  http://www.saltgrass.com/

Anyway, what I was getting around to is that although I haven't heard much from them lately, they aren't just sitting around doing nothing.  Notably, they have their own Rock the Vote campaign called "Chicks Rock, Chicks Vote", which you can check out with the following link:  http://www.rockthevote.com/crcv/index.php

This is a good thing.

  • The radio stations that banned the Dixie Chicks are all owned by one of the two major conglomerates.
